Based on the 2021-2022 data, the undergraduate student population at USI is largely skewed towards women students, with 64.1% of undergraduate students being women and 35.9% being men. The total number of full-time, first-year undergraduate students is 7,908, with 5,066 women and 2,842 men.

The largest ethnic group among the students is White, comprising 84.8% of the undergraduates population , with a total of 6,701 students.
Following behind are Hispanic students, constituting 3.9% of the student body, with 306 students. African American students represent 3.6% of the population, with 285 students, while Mixed race students account for 3.4%, with 269 students. Asian students account for 2.0% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 161 students. Finally, Hawaiian students have the smallest representation at 0.1% , with 9 students.
