Based on the 2021-2022 data, the undergraduate student population at BYU–Provo is slightly skewed towards women students, with 51.3% of undergraduate students being women and 48.7% being men. The total number of full-time, first-year undergraduate students is 31,642, with 16,242 women and 15,400 men.
On the other hand, the graduate student population at BYU–Provo is slightly skewed towards men students, with 54.4% of undergraduate students being men and 45.6% being women. The total number of full-time, graduate students is 3,169, with 1,444 women and 1,725 men.

The largest ethnic group among the students is White, comprising 81.3% of the undergraduates population , with a total of 25,654 students.
Following behind are Hispanic students, constituting 7.5% of the student body, with 2,353 students. Mixed race students represent 4.3% of the population, with 1,373 students, while Asian students account for 1.8%, with 568 students. Hawaiian students account for 0.7% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 226 students. Finally, African American students have the smallest representation at 0.4% , with 121 students.
International students make up 3.0% of the undergraduate population, totaling 952 students.
